It was a peaceful morning in Kā’anapali.  A misty blessing or rain falling from the valley above.

Yellow tapa traditional cloth could be seen draped over the elders and executives as they prepare for the opening ceremony.  A piercing voice chanting as the Maile vine is cut and opened for the first time this baby born in the promise to uphold the culture.

Sitting crossed legged in a circle under the Hina’i basket Awa was served in reverence to each hotel executive with the answer to the question of kuleana – responsibility to making sure that aloha would be shared to all who comes through those doors.

The conch shell was blown and with that the brand new Westin Nanea Ocean Villas is now open in Kā’anapali.  It is a stunning property unlike any other with hidden meaning or Kaona throughout the resort.  Native plants are featured growing from the ‘āina (land) and positioned with cultural significance.

Check into the rooms and you will find a warm feeling of aloha in the decor along with a full equipped kitchen.

The artwork chosen reveals a specific story of our sweet home in Hawai’i.

5 paintings by Maui artist Rachael Ray grace the walls as accents of beauty and meaning.

At last a moment in time is exhaled. Akahi a ho’omaka … the journey has just begun!
