Text Print: Children Learn What They Live

I first saw this poem hanging in the waiting room of my local car mechanic shop.  I really liked it so I did some research and found out it was written by Dorothy Law Nolte.  “Children Learn What They Live,” originally written to fill Mrs. Nolte’s weekly family advice column in the now-defunct Torrance Herald  in 1954, has been reprinted in 30 languages and probably appeared more than a few times in “Dear Abby.”  “I simply wrote it and put it out there, where it has apparently moved through the world on its own momentum,” Mrs. Nolte told the Los Angeles Times earlier this year.

Text Print: Hawaiian Marriage Blessing

I was inspired to write this Hawaiian Marriage Blessing when Duke and I first got engaged over 10 years ago.  FIrst, I wrote it in Hawaiian language, finding the kaona or hidden inner meanings in the thinking of Hawaiian language.  Then I did the English translation.  I have had many people and ministers contact me to read this at wedding ceremonies and I have no problem with that.  I am blessed to have the words here that others want to share at such special life moments.  I hope you like it and find someone who would love it too!
